Jennifer and Bryan - May 3rd - Kingsport TN

I first met Jennifer in my office many months ago and we hit it off within minutes. She was fun, outgoing and talked a lot .... which I like. It is always good when clients just tell me what they want and expect right off the bat. We can then figure out whether or not we are good for each other. This couple is made up of 2 chemical engineers who went to school together. Needless to say they are smart and know what they want. Jennifer indicated that the wedding would be more like a big family party than anything. It was to be relaxed and as stress free as possible. Sounds easy enough to me!

Cindy and I met both Bryan and Jennifer a few days later for dinner since he couldn't make the original meeting. I figured I might get some questions about the square root of my fees divided by 20.7333% or something, but I was dead wrong. They were both very down to earth and we spent the entire meal laughing and joking with very little emphasis on business. We left with a booked date for May 3rd - 2008.

The wedding was as described. It was simple and stress free with a big gathering of family and friends. It was one of those where you could dance even if you really don't know how to dance. Just a bunch of people laughing, being silly and having fun. The only serious moment came during the short ceremony and then we went back to more laughter. I enjoyed this wedding as I do most all of them. It was nice to send the couple off to Vegas with hopes that luck would be on their side. They found each other so I think luck may already be on their side.

Ashley and Jared - April 26th - Kingsport TN

Since my annual abundance of travel is starting up for destination weddings it was a treat to have one so close to home on Saturday. I love to travel, but a break never hurts. I met Ashley and Jared at a bridal show many months ago and the next day Ashley called to schedule a meeting with me. Needless to say we hit it off and got it all booked on the spot. I really like these kids and they are nothing short of amazing clients. They are laid back, easy to work with and made this wedding a pleasure.

After shooting their engagement photos and Ashley's bridal shots I realized just how cute and photogenic she is so I asked to appear in our upcoming video. You will just have to see it for yourself. Sierra and I showed up at the wedding ready to go and found a helpful crowd of famliy and friends on hand to do anything they were asked to do. Nice people! Now, one thing that was unique and almost strange at first was that everyone was bringing a covered dish to the wedding. It reminded me of one of those Sunday afternoon church dinners. You know, where they call it dinner on the ground, but you eat off a table. I still don't get that part. But, this idea for a wedding was a first for me to witness. It was great! People were digging in and loving it all and the food was diverse and abundant. And, I'll bet it was all free. I like FREE.

Ashley and Jared's photos are nothing short of spectacular and not because I shot them. They are great because this bride and groom wanted them to be and they wanted to work to get those photos. They told me that my fees were the biggest investment and they did this because they wanted the work that I do. I am honored and humbled by that and very glad that it all worked just the way they wanted it to.

So, after a week in Hawaii ( yeah I know LUCKY dogs) they will be back and ready for this new life together. Considering the fact that they have been together since they were around 5, I predict a successful and long life together. I sure hope so, because I really like them. Thanks guys for allowing me to document your day.

Nathan and Alison - April 25th - Charlotte NC

I love a Friday night wedding on a roof top with a view. Ok, this was actually my first Friday night wedding on top of a roof .... but I did love it. Working with well known Charlotte Wedding Planner, Yolanda Myers was great. This girl knows how to make a wedding go the way it should.

Nate and Alison live in Charlotte and have been together for about 3 years. They wanted a wedding where family and friends could relax and have fun with no stress involved. This is just what they got at the Roof With A View facility. The background on top of this roof is amazing with the Charlotte skyline and Carolina Panthers stadium. The whole facility is enclosed by glass on top and what view it is.

After the wedding and a short reception the couple piled all of their friends into a big limo for a night on the town. As always I want to thank them for allowing me to document this day and also Yolanda for being a dream to work with. We'll have a complete gallery on the site soon, but for now here is one of their photos.

Jody and Regan April 5th - Kingsport TN

I first met Regan and Jody several months ago in my office with their mothers. It was clear that this bride was really into pictures. I began to notice that many of the photos I had posted online had been viewed by Regan so I ask her about this. She told me that she liked to look at my work and think about what her photos might look like after the wedding. She just loves pictures ......... and so do I.

That wedding finally came around on April 5th and it was one of the best weddings I have shot in years. This couple and their family and friends are just "fun" people and caring as well. It was more of a big party where 2 people got married and invited their family and friends. From the oldest to the youngest, all were invited to share in this day. They did share and they all had a blast. Jody is one of those grooms that I love to work with because he is a super nice guy and one who wants his wedding pictures to be special. All of the guys at the wedding were helping him by turning loose and having fun in "his" photos. Clearly by the photos below Jody should be happy. His new wife is a person who glows inside and out. It shows!

At every wedding there is one moment that defines what this is all about. It is a time when one picture says it all about the whole thing. At this wedding it was when Jody's dad, Jack made a toast to his son and new daughter-in-law. As he spoke about Jody's childhood he began to cry and recall the many things they had done together. As I took photos and listened I thought about my own children and how special our time is. Everyone was touched and we all know that Jody is lucky to have such parents. The thing is, both of these kids were raised the same way and it shows. They are fun, outgoing and respectful of others.

So, after a week or so in New York they'll be back to begin married life together. It has been a true pleasure to work with them and there is nothing more I can say other than, "God bless them as they continue in life". We will be posting a complete gallery of photos from their wedding on our new web site when it launches soon.

Stephen and Antoinette March 29th, Savannah

There may not be a better place to do a wedding than Savannah in the Spring. Over the years we have grown to really love this town and each visit is a joy. Shooting weddings there is one of the perks to this job. This wedding took place at the famous Westin Hotel on the Savannah River right across from the old city. Having such a back drop made this gazeebo wedding something special. The ships going by and the old buildings in the background just makes for something you never forget. The gazeebo where the couple did their ceremony has been the spot for numerous TV shows. That is pretty cool.

We made the trip across the river a few times for photo shoots in the many park squares in town. The historic homes, moss covered trees and blooming flowers provided many great shots. The photo below is at Forsythe Square on Bull Street. Overall this wedding was very nice other than some gusty winds along the river which brought cool air. Best of luck to Steve and Antoinette.

Stephanie and Adam March 15th, 2008

Sierra and I went to Maryville, Tennessee on the 15th for this wedding and I am glad it was an indoor event. Rain, rain, rain .... I could go on but you get the point. Despite the bad weather people came from far and wide to see these two unite as one and it was great. I met Stephanie when I did her bridal shoot, but this was my first encounter with Adam. He is simply a great guy and it shows in the way he treats others. We joked and had a blast with everyone there and got some really cool shots. Stephanie is now an RN and Adam got his degree in biology and is looking at possible jobs in his field of study. He raises boa constrictors as a hobby and as an avid reptile fan myself we had lots to talk about. The two will live in Columbus Ohio near his hometown area. This was our 4th wedding of the year and now the games begin as we gear up for a very full season starting in Savannah on the 29th of March and running into December. I love this business!

Chip and Katy - February 17th, 2008

So, what do you get when pair up a chemical engineer and a nanny? I have no idea either, but I thought you might ponder it a little. Chip is the engineer and together they do seem to have some ..... chemistry. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

This wedding was fun and had an element that I have never seen before. After a short introduction by the minister ( Katy's Dad ) a praise and worship team - band came out. They started playing and singing and the words to the songs came up on a big screen. After the first verse the whole crowd was singing, clapping and having fun. This went on for about 4 songs and I must say it was refreshing and fun to see this. It really made people loosen up and let go. I guess it was part revival, concert and wedding all in one.

Katy and Chip met in a singles group at church and have spent many hours with these folks. I had met most of them back in November when I did a wedding for their friends Jack and Trina. Katy was sending me business before I even did her wedding. I don't know what to say except THANK YOU. This was a simple wedding with an emphasis on family and friends and of course God. I not only respected that but also enjoyed it very much. Thank you both so much for letting me document this special day.
